Starting scenario
During a hot race, core temperature rises from 37.0 to 39.4 °C, blood glucose falls from 5.2 to 3.4 mmol dm⁻³ and urine output falls. After drinking plain water, body mass remains 1.8% below the starting value. A sensor gives one unusually high reading.
You will work through 8 staged questions that build up the science you need. Then you will answer one big-picture question from memory, with no checklist to help you — and only afterwards will the full connection map be revealed.
