Which synthesis route really gives the greener yield?
Starting scenario
Route A uses 10.0 g reactant and produces 7.2 g product; theoretical yield is 8.0 g. Route B produces 8.5 g but uses 15.0 g reactant and excess solvent. Product purity is 96% for A and 82% for B. Both release a gas and Route B is faster.
